Natural Skin care products and skin allergies

The skin care and hair care industry is big business. It is a multi billion dollar industry. Unfortunately for the consumer, large companies always seem to put profits ahead of everything else. The skin care industry is no different. Natural skin care ingredients, such as Aloe Vera, Jojoba, and Vitamin E can increase the cost to manufacture beauty products, cutting into the profits of the company. Therefore, many of these companies invest in research and development, trying to find cheaper ways to manufacture their line of skin care and hair care products. Ultimately, they discover ways to manufacture artificial ingredients to take the place of the more expensive, natural ingredients.

The result, in many cases, is skin that temporarily feels smooth, and hair that looks shiny and healthy. However, the chemicals that are being absorbed into the skin and hair do more damage and harm than good. In many cases, you cannot see the damage. You only see and feel the temporary benefits. The outer layer of our skin is made up of about 15 layers of dead cells, and can be quickly penetrated by chemicals and oils, so they are widely used in skin care products to help carry the active ingredients to the deeper layers. These chemicals actually rob our skin of it's natural oils, the very oils that help absorb moisture to the deeper layers of the epidermis. Many soaps and shampoos that are manufactured for babies and young children actually contain harsh chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin.

Chalet products are all natural. We use absolutely nothing artificial. Our products have natural surfactants, allowing your skin to retain it's natural oils, thereby making it easier for your skin to absorb moisture deep into the epidermis. A very common ingredient that is used to generate the foamy suds in skin care and hair care products is a group of chemicals called Sodium Lauryl Sulfates. They were originally introduced during the second world war to clean tank and aircraft engines. These chemicals have been linked to serious skin irritation and allergies. There is evidence that these chemicals can cause even more severe damage.We have been taught that the more a product lathers, the cleaner we will be. The fact is, most of the finest cleansing products in the world have very little lather.

In order for a product to truly be all natural, it must meet the following criteria; 1. Be present in or produced by nature. 2.Not be highly processed 3. Be grown, processed, and harvested using ecological methods. 4. Must NOT be produced synthetically, or contain synthetics. 5. Be free of synthetic preservatives. Before purchasing any skin care or hair care product, check the ingredients. If they do not meet this criteria, they are not all natural. Unfortunately, it is easy for companies to claim to be natural, when they really only use some natural ingredients. In some cases, a large company can use one natural ingredient in a product, then label that product "natural". As long as they don't say "All Natural", they are within legal guidelines. But, it is impossible for a large company to offer truly ALL NATURAL products, because the labor costs would be too expensive. They are forced to buy their base products in bulk, then mix and bottle the products using an assembly line process. At Chalet, I make every product myself from scratch. Our signature series of products are absolutely chemical free, and very lightly fragranced. I have a huge respect and understanding of the need for these products, given my past experiences with my daughter, knowing how truly sensitive one's skin can be. I take this very seriously, and pledge that I would never “sneak “ anything artificial into any of my products. You can be confident that the products sold here are truly "all natural". I might never become wealthy, but I will have the satisfaction of knowing I am introducing young and old alike to the wonderful world of chemical free skin care and hair care. And that is something that money cannot buy.
